DIAGNOSIS EXPLAINED

Refrigerator problems:
what to check.

Two common situations, the possible causes, and how a repair decision is made.

Illustrative scenarios, not completed customer jobs or testimonials. The exact diagnosis depends on your appliance and an inspection.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE 01

Freezer cold, refrigerator warm

The complaint: The freezer still feels cold, but milk in the refrigerator is warming.

What the diagnosis separates: A technician compares compartment temperatures, airflow, fan operation and frost patterns. A blocked air path, an evaporator-fan fault and a defrost problem can produce similar complaints.

A possible next step: If testing confirms a failed fan, replacement may be appropriate. If frost is blocking airflow, the defrost system and drain need diagnosis. Compressor replacement is not the default conclusion.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE 02

Water beneath the crisper drawers

The complaint: Water returns under the drawers after it has been wiped away.

What the diagnosis separates: The inspection separates a defrost-drain problem from a supply-line, valve or dispenser leak. The location and timing of the water help narrow the search.

A possible next step: A confirmed blocked drain may need clearing and a drainage check. A leaking supply connection requires a different repair. Share a photo of where water first appears.

What to send Leo.

A model-label photo, the error code if shown, when the issue started, and whether it happens every cycle. Do not remove electrical covers or dismantle the appliance to collect this information.
